The veteran leader of the Dravida Munnethra Kazhagam (DMK) and Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu , 84 year old M.K Karunanaidhi has issued what appears to be a stern warning “to the supporters of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam(LTTE)”. As reported in a leading Chenai based English Daily dated 26 December 2008 , the Chief Minister had said the “DMK government would not hesitate to take action against those who voice support and act in favor of banned organizations”. He is obviously referring to the LTTE which has been banned in India since May 1992 after the organization including the present leader and second- in- Command was found guilty of the brutal murder of the former Indian prime minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi by a LTTE female suicide bomber in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu on the night of 21st May 1991 when attempting to address an election rally at Siriperumbudur. The Chief Minister emphasized that: “The warning is applicable to all”.
