Troops engaged in an offensive to free the entire motherland from LTTE terrorists have extended their defences causing heavy damages to the enemy through out yesterday, 26 January.LTTE terrorists have attempted several occasions to breach the security forces' defence line in general area Vasuamadu and it was successfully thwarted by the security forces causing heavy damages to the enemy. Heavy confrontations were also reported in the area. In a subsequent search operation, troops have found a body of LTTE terrorist killed during the fighting. I-Com set was also found during the search operation.Meanwhile, troops of 58 Division had also confronted with LTTE terrorists in several occasions during the day hours yesterday. Two LTTE ground commanders were also killed during the confrontations, Electronic Warfare sources confirmed intercepting LTTE radio communication. The killed LTTE ground commanders were identified as "Kobi Master" and Shantha Kumar. They have been given self styled rank of "Lieutenant Colonel", defence sources said.Snipers deployed in general area Irambarkulam and north of Piramanthalkulam have gunned down 7 LTTE terrorists ahead of the own defence line.Troops have confronted with a group of LTTE terrorists in general area Visuamadu causing heavy damages to the enemy. Fierce fighting was reported in the area and intercepting LTTE radio communication, it is also confirmed that terrorists suffered heavy damages. Three bodies of LTTE terrorists killed during the confrontation were also found in a subsequent search operation conducted.Meanwhile, heavy fighting reported in general area Punnainiravi as troops confronted with detected group of LTTE terrorists during day hours yesterday. During the serch operation conducted following the hours long confrontation, troops have found 6 bodies of LTTE terrorists killed. 6 T-56 weapons and one I-Com ser were also among the recoveries.
